Lunch break from jury duty, or, trying not to kill myself
I drove home from downtown for my hour and a half lunch break of jury duty just to get the hell out of that godawful building. A break from what, you might be wondering? A break from showing up at 8:30, getting a motivational speech/stand up set from a judge, then watching a DVD about jury duty (/actors playing jurors way too seriously), then reading my book to page 120. This would, obviously, necessitate an hour and a half lunch break.
I never thought I’d say this, but I’d much rather be doing extras work right now. At least I’d be getting paid.
Back to the courthouse in a half hour for another 3 hours of hurry up and wait.
UPDATE: Went back at 1:30, was “done” by 2:15. I say “done”, because the case won’t be doing panel selection until Tuesday afternoon. Can’t wait. Does anyone have a bible I can bring with me for a prop?
